I was just going throw a situation like the girl when i started to get a little big headed and stop working as hard as i use to but after reading this i will try my best to fix my attitude and not to get big headed. My couch said the same thing you said I rather have a team of hard workers and young ladies that’s willing to pay attention and follow directions. Than a team of super stars that think they know it all and won’t give any effort. That shows me that i need to get back on my game so i can be like the 3 girls going to the Division 1 schools. So once again thanks a lot Coach Jeffery!!!!!!

Thanks for the tips! I agree with setting personal goals too. Having parents, trainers, and coaches telling my daughter what to work on is wonderful, but setting personal goals fosters a motiviation from within. I believe my daughter is inspired most by her previous successes. Fulfilling a personal goals can lead to confidence which is so important esp. for an athlete!
Looking forward to more tips!

Patosha~
Thanks so much for all your advice and input. I also coach a 6th grade select team. I have found your info very helpful and it keeps me thinking from different angels. Much like you, I set the goals for the girls at the beginning of the season. We had 2 main goals, to improve and to have fun, then I had one on one conversations with each young lady on what their personal goals were. I look forward to reading and watching more on you page!
Thanks, Tony

<a href="#comment-1303" rel="nofollow">@Skylar </a>
Something you can try to do is keep a diary of the day before a game and game days and document which were days of good games and which were games of bad days. That way you can see if there is a pattern....

Also, understand that everyone experiences bad games and slumps...Read this article on some other things you can do when you are having a bad game http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/womens/columns/story?columnist=lewis_mark&id=5221782
