Candace Parker Basketball Workout

Here is a listing of drills that LA Sparks Candace Parker goes through will working out.
Shooting
Free Throws
* I pick a number that I want to make and refuse to leave before I hit it or I pick a number of consecutive makes and I don’t leave until I make that many in a row.
Three Pointers
* I do the same as I would for free throws, pick a number and continue to shoot until I make that number. I also make sure I don’t just stand and shoot, it’s important for me to emulate what I think I’ll see in the game.
Mid-Range Jumpers*
Same situation here, set a goal, shooting until I reach it. Again, the key here is to practice in-game situations. For instance, I’ll practice my cross-over, step back jump shot, or the catch and shoot. Practicing what I know I’ll see in the game is very important to my preparation.
Dribbling
Cross Over
* I basically alternate between simply crossing over from each hand, over and over again, to crossing over and ending with a jump shot. I like to practice the cross-over first and then add in the jump shot later, again knowing that’s how much of my in-game experience will be.
Spin Dribbling
* Similar to the cross over, I like to simply practice my spin dribble from each side for a set number of repetitions and then add in a shot under the basket or a fade away jumper.
Figure Eight
* I like to be able to react to any situation when I’m on the court and the ability to dribble through my legs is key to that. When someone reaches for the ball and I can use my leg to impede their progress, it’s a benefit to me. The figure eight helps with those reactions. With my head up, I dribble between my legs front to back, from one hand to the other, in a figure eight shaped motion.
